This past weekend I was in Las Vegas for work. This was my first time in Vegas, and I never really had an interest in going before. A place, in the middle of the desert where people go to drink and gamble. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m not opposed to drinking or gambling, but traveling that far to do it….in a desert? I just never saw the appeal. But this was for work, and for work I’ll go anywhere, because 1) I love what I do and 2) I’ll be able to expense anything I eat. Unfortunately this trip was so busy I spent most of my team eating the free food that was supplied by the catering, and actually that wasn’t so bad.
However, the one time I did eat out, a few coworkers and I headed to Wolfgang Puck in our hotel, the MGM Grand. Earlier in the day I had eaten at the hotel buffet, which was ok, but I was ready for a real meal. After spending a few hours trying to talk my friend out of Italian food, we headed to Wolfgang Puck as a compromise. What did I end up with? Described simply as Spaghetti and Meatballs with Spicy Tomatoes, Parsley, Garlic, Pecorino Romano, I ordered it, under the pressure of deciding on something before the others order. Spaghetti and Meatballs. I find it very hard to turn down the chance to try a restaurant’s Spaghetti and Meatballs.
This was one of the better versions of Spaghetti and Meatballs I’ve had. They used a flatter noodle, rather than a rounded pasta, and the sauce was sweet, but had a great spicy kick to it on the back. There were 5 meatballs, and although not large, they were big enough that I couldn’t finish 2 of them. The basil on top was sweet and very fresh, but I added a bit of parmesean to the top, which really, it didn’t need.
I spent four days in Las Vegas, and really ate at only one amazing restaurant while I was there, which I think is fairly dissapointing. Beyond the slot machines, showgirls and overall debauchery Vegas offers, they also offer amazing foods from various cuisines, and then a nice long walk down the strip to work it off afterwards.

Leaving, I thought to myself, “Once a year is enough here, and no more than 48 hours”, but now that I’m at home, I find myself with the itch to go back, this time with the boyfriend to show him how this Disney land for adults is like no place I’ve ever seen. And next time, I’ll eat my way through Vegas.
