A Kitchen in Queens

Recipes and Reviews from a little kitchen in a borough of nyc.
It’s taken me a while, but I’ve finally found a Thai place near my work that I really enjoy.   Thai Angel is a hole in the wall spot in Soho, right as you head into Little Italy.  Off broadway on Grand Street, it’s fairly easy to miss, but if you’re ever in the neighborhood, I recommend stopping by for a delicious lunch, or even an early dinner.
They have a lunch special that runs till 6PM, and although you don’t get a free appetizer or soup, you do get a whopping portion of food on your plate and extremely quick service.  I was convinced that nobody could deliver as quickly as my old thai spot, Mangez Avec Moi, but Thai Angel is quick and the food is always hot.
They never dumb down the spice, but make sure you know what you’re in for, double checking that you’ve had that level before.  They’re spicy scale is 1-5 stars.  The first time I ordered, I ordered a 5, and when they said on the phone, “are you sure” I responded, “yes” but really meant, “bring it on!”  And they did.  And it was hot.  SUPER hot.  I had to back it off and eventually landed at a 3 for noodle dishes, (I think the noodles retain the heat a bit better than stir fry dishes) and a 4 on rice dishes.
It’s become my go to spot and every dish I’ve had so far is top notch.
