At work, we complain constantly about the lack of choices, how mundane the food has gotten and how we need a change of scenery, but I think that happens at all jobs after you’ve worked there for a while. The truth is Tribeca has some amazing restaurants.
We go out to lunch occasionally. I wouldn’t say we go out as a group weekly, but we do make an effort to get out of the office together, especially for special occasions. The day of the Giant’s parade (shortly after they won the superbowl) we decided to venture out for meatballs for Shelby’s birthday. Of course we wanted to go to Stuzzicheria, but they were packed like crazy! We ended up across the street at Bread Tribeca. I believe it is literally Bread Tribeca, not just Bread. I think there’s another place in the city and I’m not sure if the two are related or not. Either way, that’s where we went for lunch.
I always find Italian food to be very heavy for lunch which is why I usually opt for a lighter noodle dish, but today was a celebration and I decided to try something new and decadent. Ricotta and Spinach ravioli with Nut Brown Butter, Sage, Toasted Almonds and Amaretti. So. Good.
I can’t even describe this dish to you, it’s just one that you have to try for yourself. The buttery cheesy goodness was amazing and the sauce was simple and light. I was surprised by how good it was, and how much there was. I couldn’t even finsh! Although, now that I think about it, that may be because of the 2 meatballs I ate as appetizers. Yum!
